The MLB is becoming more and more even every year that passes as more teams continue to put their hat in the ring. The NL Central was a perfect expression of this in 2013 when they had one of the best division battles in the MLB. Out of the five teams in the division there were three that continued to fight for the division until the final days of the season. In the past this was always limited to the top two teams as the rest of the teams were put to the bottom to fight it out for third place. It was like that for years until the Pittsburgh Pirates threw their names into the title race.

In sports the only thing that is truly predictable is the unexpected as great stories all come from teams or players who were written off before they had a chance to prove themselves. They are the underdogs who come out of nowhere to make great stories and grab the headlines. The underdogs are the teams that make fans out of everyone as they fight against all odds to get to the top of the league and to a championship. It is one of the best parts of sports as it is entertaining to see the teams that were never supposed to be good achieve something special.

The MLB Postseason is through the first two rounds as four teams are ready to fight for the league championships and their spot in the World Series. The postseason has had surprises and great performances like any other postseason but one theme seems to be making itself known. Pitching in the regular season has been one of the hottest topics of debate with teams consistently limited pitch counts. Throughout the regular season managers would be wary of letting their top pitching talent put too much wear on their arm.
