2017 was a year of the upset and the surprise in sports and the first major American championship followed the same path as a David versus Goliath match-up was in store and the result was surprising even if Goliath took the win.

The National Championship changed to the College Football Playoff system in order to avoid dominance from one conference but the 2018 title game will see an all-SEC match-up with a chance of a new champion for the fourth year in a row.
