It has been an incredible year for sports in 2012 with more than enough stories to look to and more than enough great accomplishments. The world of sports never ceases to impress and give us something that we have not seen before. Champions were crowned in all of the major sports after teams had slugged through long demanding season.

It is one of the most popular sports grouping in the Summer Olympics as Gymnastics have been one of the staples of the Olympic Program. They are all sports that require extreme levels of athleticism. These are the sports that involve some of the best athletes in the Olympics with strength, balance, speed, and control all key aspects to winning medals.

The Boating category in the Olympics is self explanatory as it involves any sport with a boat or ship and an athlete. The boating events are simply about the marriage of an athlete and their equipment. There are a number of different sports in this grouping some are about the short distance and pure power while others are about the stamina and wherewithal to perform over a long period of time.

It is not necessarily the best name for an Olympic Sports grouping but there really is nothing else to put these three sports under. These three “Other Sports” have both tradition and some modernity to them as they are grouped together simply because they fit nowhere else.
